We took an Accord for a test drive and noticed the transmission was constantly shifting up/down as if it could not determine which gear it should use at any point in our drive. This took it out of consideration for us.

If three cars are very similar then I could see a direct comparison of items such as acceleration, handling, braking, etc. However, the way I look at it is:
Want fast performance with average economy - Honda Accord Hybrid
Want a mid-size sedan with excellent economy - Toyota Camry Hybrid
Want maximum fuel efficiency with hatchback utility - Toyota Prius

Yeah, for me it was between the Accord Hybrid and the Camry Hybrid.
The Accord stickered for about $30500, but could be had for $27500. That did include leather and heated seats, as well as all the other goodies save for nav.
Even with the discount though, it was still more than the Camry I got. I figure he $1000 is a reasonable premium for heated seats, so it was about the same price really.
I wanted to go with the faster car, but at the end of the day I just couldn't justify paying that much for a car with essentially outdated technology at the end of its body style run, when I was staring at a brand new, fresh Camry that got better mileage and had better technology.
