Mike,

It sounds like your time with a BMW was like mine. It took me a while to understand the initials stood for Break My Wallet.

I think you will like the simple oil and filter changes and great mileage that your car will get. Even better is that most of us have not figured out how long other items (like brakes) will last because we have not worn them out yet.....

Welcome to the board.

thanks guys, yah it was from a toyota dealer - meadowvale toyota here in the Greater Toronto Area - my buddy works there so i got hooked up nicely.

yah the bimmer was great and everything...looks great, handles sick but i was forking out too much money to keep her in top shape - this year alone needed new suspension, a/c condenser and major tuneup.
- i hated putting premium gas (u guys pay 30% less for your gas down there)

now with the hybrid, im looking to sport her up a bit:
- first thing is to tint her, prolly 35% around, then 20% rear window.
- Lip spoiler for sure
- prolly keep the stock 16" alloys and put real winter tires on them, and then get SE 17" rims/tires for summer (i had 19's on the bimmer), im not sure about getting bigger rims and tires since then i would definitely have to drop the car which im not sure about.

Yep, you did GOOD!!!!

That car stickered new for about $30K US (about $34-35K Canadian?) so you got a car that will probably have at least another 200 KM of life in it for less than half of the original MSRP. When gas goes up again (not if) people will be walking up to you and offering $25-27K for it on the spot.

As for the factory nav, I like mine. I also have a 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible with the factory nav. It is hard to say the Toyota or Chrysler is better; I think the phone is easier to sync on the TCH, but the Chrysler has a 20 GB hard drive; you load a CD and it asks you if you want to save it to the hard drive; no more worry about lost or scratched CDs. Longevity is another question for both cars; we'll see.

Did you get an extended warranty on yours? I bought a 2009 TCH with 14K miles; the car's reputation for reliability is so great, I'm leaning towards not getting one.

Do you have ethanol in your Canadian gas? We do here in South Texas, and I have noticed a significant drop in mileage over the mileage coming through the south from Florida in areas that did not have 10% ethanol in their gas. Some of the mileage drop may also have to do with the significant heat; will wait for October to see if it goes back up.

Good luck!

Joe

Thx Joe. I like u read about the great reliability. Declined ext warranty. Knock on wood. Yes we have ethanol in winter gas. I know the mpg gets worse in winter.
