Warranty Expiring- Was is worth it?
Hey All,
Have not posted in awhile. Thought I would update on my Camry 2007 Hybrid with 78,000 miles.
My warranty expires soon. I have had the Water Pump replaced (Leaking Badly) and the Intermediate Steering Shaft replaced (Sounded like the steering wheel popping when turning). I also had the Rack/Pinion Recall done). Bought policy 7/100,000 and it was worth if for my peace of mind. Bought for $880. All done on platinum warranty except the rack job.
So far, Camry has been a great car. On the other hand, the freaking rattling on the dash, the foam squeaking on the shift/cup console, and the rear deck has made me less interested in buying another Camry. However, I do like the later Tundra's. May be inclined to go that route next.

Re: Warranty Expiring- Was is worth it?
I thought the cost was absurd when I purchased mine. I did not get the warranty. I had the water pump problem. But, I had the problem for the first time well after 100,000 miles and replacing it was pretty darn easy compared to other cars. I also fixed the steering shaft clunk in 15 minutes for free.
Other than those 2 things and now just turning over 150,000, the car has been flawless. Still on the original 12v battery too.
The only killer would be if the Brake Accumulator went out or the HV battery.

I really struggled with the decision to get extended coverage but opted not to. Happy with my decision (hindsight makes that easy). Granted my Camry only has 62,000 miles but after almost seven years I haven't had any real issue except for the rattling/crickets in the dashboard which was resolved (for the most part). Hopefully that doesn't change by September.
