Default Traded in 03 Prius for an 05 Prius

Well I went to the Toyota dealer last night with my 03 Prius and he offered me 16,500 for my car. I did the math and with 35,500 miles on the 03 I felt like it was the right thing to do. I lowered my payment by $5, got a 3 year warranty and a vehical that has a lot more amenities than the 03.

With the new 05 I got package #4. The only thing I would have really liked would have been the home link. This 05 is really sweet and I like it so much more than the 03 and I thought the 03 was awsome.

Well if anyone has any comments on this deal let me hear it bad or good!! Thanks, Steve

Sounds like you got a good deal;does pk 4 include side side curtain airbags? The 03's and earlier didn't offer side curtain airbags.
What was the price difference after trade-$8000-$10000?Sounds like a great deal to me-better ,faster, bigger, safer car.My Prizm(Corolla clone-2001 with 25000 miles) would only be worth $5000 toward a Prius-you got good value for your 03.Luck.Charlie

It was a $7,700 difference. The msrp of the 05 was 24,200! It sure is a wonderful upgrade! Thanks for the comments guys! Steve
P.S. Yes it has the side curtain airbags and most of all the HID headlights which makes it so I can see at night!! yahooo!

Wow,that was the best $7700 you ever spent.Got rid of a car with 36000 miles on it,and got a bigger, faster, much safer car, that gets better mpg.(the best, most trouble free miles are probably worth 35 cents a mile depreciation wise on a $20000 vehicle). The side side curtains-or lack of them-are the biggest shortcoming of the 2003's and earlier. The Prius is a small car-well made(for crash protection)but small. The side side curtains negate the main shortcoming all small cars have.
Good deal-your price must have been no more than MSRP-and they gave you too much(in my judgement they gave you the full price they could expect to sell it for).Nice deal.Luck.Charlie PS-I follow Ebay closely just to get an idea of prices-the highest a 2004-2005 (used or new,but very few new)is now selling for is $19000+.Yes,it will go for more, but no crazy money like a couple of years ago.
