Under the circumstances I see no need, it should now be obvious to even a young child that I was quoting from the actual document.

There is no need because the quote does not exist. You simply enjoy making **** up and stirring the pot. You are a complete joke and do not have the ***** to back up anything you post. But I already knew that. Btw, I have the manual and it is not referenced. You want to be taken seriously then show the page that it came from so we can all learn from your research. You won't because it does not exist.

To get back on the original question Joe asked...

Thanks in advance and happy new year
I have an 05 FEH 4wd, it has over 106,000 miles on it and I bought it new in '05 and had 35 miles on the odometer.

The best way I found to "trust" the intelligent 4wd system is to play around with it an area where you can't get yourself into trouble.

The second winter I had mine, I took it to a snow and ice covered parking lot and just had a little fun. While driving I paid attention to how the vehicle was "talking" (acting) when I did different things. You could also taking to a dirt road if one is around.

With my 05 FEH, if I step on the accelerator really hard, the rear axile will engage and you can sort of feel the rear of the vehicle sink a little.

I've also backed up a snow bank at my daughters day care center. While backing my FEH up, it was solely in EV mode and spun all 4 tires.

Currently I am using the regular Continental all season tires and have not had any problems. (My stock Eco Plus Continentals lasted 78,000 miles)

Once I have learned to trust the 4wd system, I truely enjoy driving my FEH verses driving my wife's full-time AWD vehicle.

Good luck Joe...

[quote=stevedebi;196091]The "Intelligent" 4WD system was not present on the 2005, that was a mechanical system. (quote]

This statement is not true. All 2005 thru 2007 AWD Ford Escape vehicles had the Intelligent 4WD system. It is stated on my car sticker. One can even read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Escape

I don't use or accept wikipedia as a source, but you are correct. I'm getting too old and must have mistaken 2005 for 2007! The "intelligent" system debuted on the 2005.

Thanks Steve!!!

I'm providing proof by listing the page number fand paragraph from my 05 FEH Owner's manual. Also, you can look-up any 05 FE and FEH on ebay equipped with 4WD and you will not see any driver controls for the 4WD system. (My sister has an 05 FE with the V6...)

From Page 214, 1st & 2nd paragraphs...

"Your vehicle is equipped with an intelligent 4WD System that continually monitors vehicle conditions and automatically adjusts the power distribution between the front and rear wheels. It combines transparent all-surface operation with highly capable four-wheel drive.

The 4WD system is alway active and requires no driver input. It is capable of handling all road conditions, including street and highway driving as well as off-road and winter driving."

The 3rd paragraph talks about the Heat protection mentioned earlier in this thread...

Need any more information?

I gather you missed the part in the last post where I said "You are correct"?

Steve,
I really was thanking you and I didn't miss what you said.

I guess I got a little upset after attempting to get caught up with some of the postings after staying away from this site for over 2 years. Especially when people were asking Willard to back-up what he was stating by sighting page numbers from his owners manual. I was just providing proof to back up what I was stating.

I apologize if I offended you Steve.

Rich
