You're right, I wasn't implying that the 12V battery isn't used for anything other than the relay. I just meant to point out that the 12V battery is NOT used to actually start the ICE.

I think I can back up your recommendation. I have had the 12V battery die on me twice. Both times I was unable to start the ICE because there was not enough juice left to energize the HV...

What was the breakdown on driving with that tank (how much city/highway/backroad)? My best with my AWD is 35MPG, that's with 70% highway, 20% backroads and 10% city....

Likely because they know some folks will exceed the rating, no matter what it is. I think it would do fine with a 1500 lb tow, as long as it's only occasionally.

Which was the same problem I had. The brakes worked but had the warnings and lack of regen.

I agree that there may be 2 different issues here.
