Good comments Mel. The two founders of Garmin broke away from Honeywell during the development of the KLN90B. Garmin has come a long way in GPS technology and are currently the leaders in the field. As far as the avionics in the Boeing and Airbus they are behind. AND IF ITS NOT A BOEING I ANT"T GOING!

Well, given I haven't had to fly the bus, I can say the same...but if we ever have a ton of them (just recently parked the last of them), I guess I will fly what they pay me to fly, but I am a Boeing guy.

Mel I though you might be from the aviation world! What model do you fly?

CA on the B-737-800. GA background (was born at the wrong time, couldn't get into the Navy Jet1)...but the GA equipment didn't have glass and gps when I was there 20 years ago! I take it that you are in the maintenance end, kklein? Sounds like you fly too though.

Yeah, good bird and fun but after 6 years of international with a decent schedule, I am not liking being on reserve flying domestic and called out at the last minute...especially at 53 years old. I may just go back to FO on the 767 or 777 International (I have flown them both).

I like the 777. Air Canada has had them about a year and they are a nice ride.

First airplane I ever flew with a "gust supression system" instead of yaw damper system. Also the first airplane that would spill my coffee with only light chop! Go figure...it is an absolute great airplane though. Just never going to fly CA in it.

Soory Mel I responded on the wrong thread was the "gust suppression" on the 777? Also the picture you posted of the AA 737 in snow was that in canada? YYZ, YOW, YUL?

Yes, YYZ! And yes, the gust suppression was on the 777. I fly to YYZ pretty often.
