How to turn off "Maint. Req'd." service light
Last night, after six months and 11 days of ownership, my TCH turned 10,000 mi... woohoo! At 9,900 miles, my small dashboard screen stated to override the normal nine display functions with "MAINTENANCE REQD," in addition to a more-than-obvious red hazard light in the adjacent area of the dashboard. This was to let me know an oil change was due, but my first thought was, "Oh @#$%, I've ruined my car and I'm 60 miles from home."
Today, I called Toyota to find out how to disable the maintenance warning, and thought it might be useful for some others here. It is a simple sequence:
1. Set your odometer display to "Trip A."
2. Turn your car off.
3. Push the odometer button (from Step 1) again and hold it during Steps 4 and 5.
4. Turn your car on.
5. Wait a few seconds while 5 indicators in your display screen cycle on.
6. Your display will tell you that the maintenance warning reset is complete.
As always, happy motoring!

Canadian spec TCH's we don't have this option. My salesman told me when I queried why: "Canadian drivers are more mainenance conscious and don't need to be reminded." He always has an answer, usually wrong!
