Maint Req'd warning at 24,500 miles

MAINT REQD warning at 24,500 miles
I use trip set A for oil change intervals.
At 4950 miles the MAINT REQD warning came on 'briefly' (cycling through clears the warning) which I believe is correct, since it gives you 50 miles before your next oil change as a warning.
After 5000 miles, the warning stays 'solid' (you can cycle through to see the other information, but the warning returns after five seconds).
I'm okay with that.
This morning the warning came on and stayed solid (cycling throught didn't clear it).
I looked at my odometer reading and noticed that the car hit exactly 24,500 miles when the warning went solid.
Trip A (oil reset) was at 4987.
I thought the warning was only for oil changes and came on only when the miles hit 5000.
Is there anything that would cause this?
It seems like it's more than coincidence that it went solid at 24,500
It's not a big deal as I reset the indicator in anticipation of a scheduled oil change, however occurring at this mileage interval is a little troubling.

I called the dealer...there warning only comes up for the 5000 interval of the last reset.
bizarre...unless dealer never reset the warning last time and it was 5000 since I had reset it prior to the last oil change

Just to summarize: Is your car telling you to change oil after around 4500 miles instead of the usual 5000? Maybe there's more to it than straight mileage count, ie: engine temp, trip duration, etc. Either way I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

My exprience in over 60,000 miles on my '07 TCH is thet the reminder begins to "stay on" at 5000 miles after it was last reset. I have had mine come on while on a trip, and have reset it so the rest of the info is available on the MID...knowing that I would have the oil changed when I return home. It is easy to reset it. Maybe your last oil change (and reset) was at 19,500??
Also of note, resetting the reminder resets Trip A to 000.

It was my understanding that the light would turn on at 4,500 miles since the last reset but turn off after a few seconds. At 5,000, it stays on until you reset it.

My warning comes on about 450 miles before it needs changing. The maintenance bug don't come on other then when I first start the car. I do know the bug or tag will become more annoying as it gets closer to time to change the oil and filter. I got so upset at it last time I decided to change the oil and filter early. It just started showing up again so i may do the same again as it would be right at 5000 miles from the last change.

you're probably right, I think I was wrong saying that it was a 50 (rather than 500) mile 'heads up'
