Thumbs up Milage from a recent long distance trip.

My family of four just drove from Northern Virginia outside D.C. to a wedding in Salem, MA just north of Boston. The distance was covered in less than a tank of gas each way. The basic stats are below:

Going North: 36.6 MPG using 14.1 gallons of gas
Going South: 36.7 MPG using 14.4 gallons of gas

The numbers above are almost completely from the driving trip. I filled up as I left, again when I arrived in Salem, and then lastly when I got home. The driving is 98% highway miles.

Am I pleased? Heck yeah!

Cheers, Travis

Not bad. What kind of traffic did you hit and what was your typical speed? You went through some pretty congested areas.

Thumbs up Re: Milage from a recent long distance trip.

We had incredible luck and no delays of consequence. The one exception was a 15 minute crawl on the way back where the 395 hits the 95 in Connecticut. During this delay it was rather fun to be on battery almost the whole time as we inched forward past the wreck.

Oh, I didn't mention we were running the A/C the entire time.

Average speed ranged from high 50s to low 60s MPH.

Regards, Travis

I just took a trip on my TCH. I went from Nashville to Memphis w/ AC on, cruise set usually at about 73-75. The trip is about 400 miles roudtrip w/ 95% interstate miles and my mileage was 41.7 mpg.

On my first tank I got 36.5 w/ mainly short distance driving. So in my short experience my highway mileage is much better than stop and go driving. Even on my first tank, the times I went on the interstate I almost always pegged the eco gauge at above 40mpg as well.

Same with me....Hwy mileage has been better than city so far. I'm barely holding 37.8 in my current "all-city" tank, but I got 42.5 on a 447 mile run between El Paso and Phoenix at speed limits of 70-75.
