Extended Warranty on Civic Hybrid

Extended Warranty on Civic Hybrid
I'm inching towards that cliff to take the plunge and buy the Hybrid. One question - for those of you who have purchased extended warranties on the car, how much have you paid? Did you go somewhere other than the dealership you bought the car from to get your warranty?
Thanks,
Jeff

Re: Extended Warranty on Civic Hybrid
It was discusse a bit here recently:

I personally didn't get the extended warranty.... because of my great past experiences with Honda, and because the battery already has a 8/80 warranty and the powertrain has a 5/60 warranty.
If you decide to go for the extended warranty however, refuse when first asked, and they will likely knock a few hundred off of the price. They have always done this to me.

Re: Extended Warranty on Civic Hybrid
I think I paid about $900. It turns out that the car is so reliable that I never needed to use it. But hey, it's a small price to pay for peace of mind.
Here's the stats on my car as of the latest 90,000 mile service:
IMA Capacity: 92% of original.
Average MPG: 44.5
Still on the *original* brake pads, transmission, and starter battery.
The car is slightly noisier than when it was new, and the exterior is dinged up from the SUV mamas hitting my car. But other than that, it still runs like a champ.

Re: Extended Warranty on Civic Hybrid
No extended warranty due to the extensive coverage of the IMA system in California and other states. Most components are 15/150 except the battery which is 8/150 (years/k miles). Besides -- it's a Civic!

You can get Honda Care from this site. According to Honda, you don't need to get these from the dealer you purchase from. The part that interested me was that it doesn't even need to be a Honda or Acura. Link to Honda Finance Site

Here's the best price I found:

I didn't actually end up buying from them, I just printed out their quote and took it with me when I bought my 06. I told my dealer I would buy from them if they matched it, and they did (they originally wanted ~$2000, quote was for $995). Nice thing about doing it that way is that it was rolled into the financing.
