Can't say I've ever seen that. Maybe a sensor issue?

Thinking about that though, even 58 seems a little high (assuming that's what it's telling me). I already dumped 72oz of Freon into this thing. I have a very odd feeling the dealer I bought it from salvages Freon from their inventory. It wasn't the only car i looked at that had hot ac on the lot. Chicago is a savage place, you won't find a bigger hive of scum and villainy.

I'm just working with a hose gauge here, but it was reading 32lbs on the low. But it does drop when the rear evap valve opens. Down to 27 or so. I thought that wasn't right but didn't wanna dump more in it.

I think that's just how the sensor displays. Temp sensors are variating resistor type. I think the scope is showing the individual bcm probes, about ten times a second. Split the difference is about 101 degrees, and the evaporator definitely isn't 101. I think the low spike is actual temperature.

Hehe, I was so worried about reading everything on the scope, I didn't bother to look at the "dashboard" on Forscan. That temperature reading is the bottom spike. I checked it again when i realized my error with Forscan. On dashboard it was showing evap temp anywhere from 58-61.

I'm only guessing, but that seems too low. Cabin evap should be at 40.

72oz? Wow. Regardless, 58-61 is acceptable to insure the battery is cooled.

As I recall, the car tries to keep the battery in the 80-90°F range. Once you hit near 100°F, The HV system is almost completely disabled. You can verify the system operation in the BCM via the charge/discharge limits. Common to see it restricted to 1500W when you're having temperature issues.

Yeah, between the bad fan and improper cooling I think it's a bit of both.

I'm still not seeing any reason you're getting 11mpg. Mid-20s, sure. 11. WTF?

I think that's just what they do when the assist won't function. That's basically all local diving in traffic. I'm a pizza delivery guy. Lot of lights and stop signs.

Yeah, that's a pretty poor mpg scenario.

Worth periodically checking the charge and discharge limits while you're on runs. Very low numbers means the HV system is essentially disabled and only used to start the car/charge 12V.
