2008 Ford Escape jump start button blinking
Hello I was wondering if someone could please help me with this issue. The hybrid battery is low and the car will not start. I tried pressing the jump start button and it blinks slowly, never solid and doesn’t charge the battery. I bought a brand new 12v battery and tried using the jump button while another vehicle is hooked up with jumper cables with no results. I know it’s supposed to be solid yellow when it’s charging but it’s blinking. If you have any ideas please let me know and thank you for reading.

Thanks for your reply! I actually have not scanned the vehicle yet. I just ordered the dongle for my laptop and will update with the forscan codes. Sorry, should have done that first.

Re: 2008 Ford Escape jump start button blinking
If the car has sat for a very long time, the chemistry can go dormant where it's resistance skyrockets. When you apply the jump starter in that situation, the voltage spikes up to 340V (the peak voltage the jump starter can deliver) very quickly, and almost no current is taken on as charge. The jump starter reports a fault, and it terminates with the battery voltage plummeting again.
It was so bad in my '05, I had to open the battery and charge directly.

That's kinda weird.
I only owned a 2005 FEH.
Pressing the button on a cold day warmed the HV battery in mine but added no charge. (That year had a battery heater as well as battery cooling; not sure about later years).
On a warm day; and "warm" being 50°F and above, the button did nothing.
There's a full write-up on it here somewhere.
But ya gotta dig back to 2008 close.
Good luck with yours.
