Default 2008 MMH Question

Does anyone know if the 2008 MMH will have any type of anti-rollover safety feature similar to what I have seen in other SUVs???

Also, I have read a characterization of the MMH as a "more upscale version" of the Escape hybrid. Do you think this is a fair characterization? What is it based upon as they look strikingly similar to me?

In 2008, the FEH and MMH do not have the stability control system available that is optional on the gas versions. Unfortunate, but Ford says they could not get all the electronics to play together. Maybe in 2009.

Keep in mind that "anti-rollover" isn't a good term for these systems. They will modify weight transfer and reduce skidding and tipping. However, if you slide into a curb or low rail, or hit another car it probably won't help at all. The systems might be nice to have but I've never been too paranoid about roll overs.

Originally the MMH was more "upscale" because all the options (including 4WD) were standard. That's not the case anymore and I think if you max the options, the FEH actually has more available.

Also look at this thread for a discussion on the few differences between the MMH and the FEH:

I just picked up my MMH hybrid this week. If you get rid of the factory cont. tires this vehicle handles very well, and I have already driven about 50 miles winding around and up and down mountains.

I have tested it out a little as far as stability so fourth. The thing is solid. I dont feel any center of gravity issues or anything.

Go drive a Jeep Cherokee...do a little aggresive driving, then try a MMH.
