When I tried looking for it through Ford the cheapest I could find was $113.
Anyway I hooked it up today and it seems to be functioning properly.

and I thought I blew something. I just went out after reading your post to check and it's
drawing current again.
Any idea how long it would take to heat to 60F @ say 20F ?
Reason I ask is I have my heater set on a timer for 3 hours prior to leaving for work.
Think thats long enough? Is the actually a resistance heater in the battery compartment?
I was able to find the proper connector at the junk yard, took a while but it came from a 2000
something Taurus, something off the fire wall. From my shop manual it looks like the
same one for the seat belt buckled signal also. Anyway no cut and splice required
and I got an excuse to go to the Junk yard!!

Tried it out this morning , seemed to work good. It took somewhere between 3 and 4 hours before it shutoff, 60f according to GPSman. It was about 30f out. car drove for about 3 minutes in the neighborhood before I saw it drop into EV. ( also have the grille block
Attachments show the connectors (need the female connector), the device (ordered from ebay, used to charge electric scooters) and meter showing current draw.
I think it cost me $30 for the block heater from NAPA, $30 for the dc charger.
I plug them into a 3 way for now but maybe put a J box and switch later on.
For those after 07 without the factory wiring, I am sure you could find a connector in the junk yard to mate with the on on the Battery.
Now I will be able to use my enginer Plug in module again. Really did no good prior to this in the cold.

Do we know the voltage and current requirements for the charger?

 

As posted by GPSman ( I think) it's a 24 volt and I read 75W would be 3A.(?)
Closest I could find was 4 amp.
Mine shows 100 watts when plugged in not sure if it's the killawatt or just drawing more power.
I'll check it out with DVM when I get a chance.

I'll have to check and see what I have laying around, but found these on eBay, one was 3-4A. Still, it's the connector and wire from back to front that's the hard part. I'd hate to have to plug a block heater in the front and a battery warmer in the back, but suppose it would be ok for awhile.

For the on at the battery you might even pick some female pins from a computer
db connector?
I had the same situation where I was running the block heater alone and thought it
helped with the internal comustion side of the equation it really didn't do anything to
get the battery to assist. Also from my reading the battery will do through a series of
shallow charge discharge cylce to force it's warming. I have to beleive that may cut into
fuel mileage.
Driving it into work today should be a good test (yes I know it's sunday!), high 20's F
I've got a scangage on order from cleanmpg so right now I can't give empirical evidence
but will post when I get it.

Yes, it's going to be end of the month before it gets here, but then I don't have a cord either. OTOH, it's a resistive load so any voltage under 24v is better than none, if the output is a couple amps.

We're supposed to have another cold snap with high temps around zero all week. I think I finally got the rest of that dielectric grease off my connector so actually might be able to use my block heater again.

Where is this battery warmer supposed to sit normally, under the dash? Yup, it ain't going to be pretty.

 

I have a short story. Quite a few years ago I worked
and went to school in Boston. At times it can get
pretty cold there. The forecast was for -30 Degrees F
so being the Engineering Student I was I threw
a blanket over the engine of my trusty Pontiac, put
a oil dipstick heater in the block and a small
light bulb under the blanket and near the battery.
In the morning I removed all the stuff and was
really proud when the old V8 started right up.
All that ended about half way down the block when
a growling sound started coming from under the
hood. Stopping the car and opening the hood I
was astounded to see the power steering fluid
reservoir overflowing and was a gooey purple
syrupy mess. Lessen here is if it gets really
really cold bad things are gonna happen.
