HCHII Steering problem!!
2007 HCHII with 30k miles. Last 1000 miles or so I have noticed the car wont hold center when driving, especially on freeway. Seems like there is a small amount of play in the wheel and I am constantly correct left then right... On acceleration the steering feels normal, but at constant speed or idle the steering feels sloppy. Had it aligned but didnt help. Wondered if anyone else had the same issue?
Oh, MPG has tanked down from 44 average to 38 too.

Re: HCHII Steering problem!!
I remember reading posts regarding this problem in the HCH I for some folks.
Do a search on the forums and you should find those. I think there was a problem with the steering rack if I remember correctly.

Re: HCHII Steering problem!!
Honda said too much air in the tires, they deflated them to 32psi and said to try that. too windy today to tell if that helped. Alot of people run their tires to 40 plus psi so i dont know about this but we will see

Hey Jeff I don't believe it has anything to do with air pressure! I run 44lbs. in my HCH2 a don't experience this sort of problem. Next time you see your dealer lower the pressures to 32 so they can't use that as a excuse. Your problem is not air pressure related. H

Re: HCHII Steering problem!!
I don't think the problem is with the tire air pressure either, but like Harold says, make sure when you take the car in to the dealer that the pressures are set at 32 psi.
I run my tires at 40 psi for both winter and summer tires (my tire shop even sets the psi to somewhere between 36 and 40 psi when they do the tire changes). Whenever I've gone to my dealership for maintenance they have never messed with the tire pressures.
I was reading an old thread, and although it pertains to the HCH I, it mentions problems that were related to the steering rack and possibly the steering ECU (electronics control unit).

I can understand why your mpg's would be lower with your steering problem, always having to steer when you should be able to go straight; that has to use up more gas while you drive, or at least cause higher rolling resistance as the tires move side to side.
