Hypermileing at 65 mpg on my HCHII

I think I found the secrets of hypermileing my HCH. In town I have been averaging 51 MPG for the last 700 miles.
BUT for the last 600 miles on a trip I got 65 MPG.
Went to see my friend Brian for the weekend. Most roads were 70 MPG but I went from 55 - 70 depending on the hills and kept my instant MPG a few bars above 50 mpg.
No AC and the windows were up (kindda hot but the MPG were super), the tires up to 40 psi and took all junk out of the trunk. (ran light as possible)
Best run yet... do not know if I can do better over such a long distance.
Anyone else get in the 60+ MPG?

nice job. i get the pretty regularly on my daily commute in the summer, sometimes closer to 70MPG.
my car was driven from new york to san franciso in february as part of an MPG event along with a 2008 model. it's over all average for the 3000 some miles was right aroung 60. it might have been even better were it not for several really bad winter storms during the drive. the cars were driven with teams of 3 in each, driving 24/7, stopping only for short breaks for food and potty breaks..........the 2008 came in at about 56MPG.

Good job!
My lifetime average over 2+ years is 64.
My best tank ever was 71.6, but that was too much trouble to keep up.

My commute has change and I do mostly city driving so my average will do down in the future.
