My dealer, a totally honorable fellow, had no issue showing me that info and letting me record it "for the record"......

Re: My first 'no electrical assist and near miss' adventure
Did you get a good deal as a trade-in or separately selling/buying?
I've been pondering the same path for a 2011 Prius or maybe a plugin if I can gather enough dough

Here is a trick question- has your mileage returned to normal post battery replacement? Just so I know if it's even worth arguing with them over a new battery

The current battery is so dead (but STILL no IMA light !) that I am not even getting stop/start when historically I have in the past (and it is a balmy 5C here today instead of normal -8C). All I get is 3 bars of assist max.....
I suspect that the dumbed down software "update" will protect the new battery for many years, but it will come at a fuel economy cost. I would argue for the new battery. I couldn't in good conscience trade in a car with a known dead IMA battery, even with 'warranty' still on it.....
Ultimately (with the software update) it is no longer the car I test drove in 2007, bought in good faith and enjoyed for 4.5 years, nor is it the car the US EPA dyno tested in 2007.....

Re: My first 'no electrical assist and near miss' adventure
Had 3 re-cals on the drive from home to Cobourg to get the new battery. Due to headwinds, kept it at 90 kph on the 401.
I had the rear seat pre-removed as well as all but one of the torx fasteners on the protective metal sheet that hides the actual battery pack.
The team at Cobourg Honda did a great job . The paper-work had not even shown up yet, just a factory fresh battery in a re-usable container (much like aircraft parts are shipped in).
2 hours later I had my car back and the drive home (90 kph, secondary roads, wind at back) was 4.3L/100 km for a 65 km trip.
Night and day between outbound and inbound trip. I was getting e-glide when I was supposed to, etc.
Anyhow, if/when I shop for another Honda product, it will be at Cobourg Honda.
Spent the rest of the day pulling out the non-stock removable items out of the Civic in prep for trading it for my '08 Prius (tomorrow).
Cheers
Mike
