NAPA is where I got mine. They were the only ones to carry it after they stopped making it. Now that they've started again, maybe other places too. I forgot what I paid, but it was right around $5.00 per quart.

The kicker is when I take it to Jiffy Lube for the change, they only deduct like $3 for providing my own oil. Still costs $30 for the change - $45 if you include oil costs. I only have it changed there twice a year - the third as at the dealer for the major services (15, 30, 45K...). It's a sham, but not worth my time to get upset about.

I don't have the manual with me. I'm at work. I hope Honda makes a PDF available for download soon.

I just have mine changed now since they use the oil I want and it costs the same to do it myself but then I have to spend the time doing it.

By my calculations, it should only cost around 20-25 tops to change your oil using Synthetic oil. Are you telling me the dealer charges that much too ???? Care to tell me what dealer you go to ????

Are you just counting material costs and leaving out the fact that dealership labor is $120/hour?

My dealer has already quoted me $40 per oil change, $15 more than they charge for other cars "because of the cost of the 0w20 oil".

I do it myself for a several reasons -

1 - I know it is done right. (ie: filter really was replaced, not just wiped off, old oil fully drained)

2 - Convenience - I can do it whenever I want - it takes about 1/2 hour (including prep and clean up) and can be after work during the week, or whenever on the weekend. )

3 - Cost - Materials cost about $23 (including tax). Cheapest Stealer price I've seen is $40. (That's A Case of Good Beer!)

4 - Gives me a chance to inspect the rest of the undercarraige (Exhaust, Tires, CV boot, engine seals, etc.) I'm not a professional, but anyone can spot little things like a tear in the CV boot, odd wear patterns on the tires, small oil leaks and that type of stuff. Jiffy lube WILL miss that kind'a stuff, and I always question the dealer's motivation.

I tried the Walmart in our area, and they didn't have 0W20 oil. I don't mind paying $5.00 a quart for oil if it is Synthetic but I hate to pay that much for regular dino oil.
