Default Ford Announces 50-State "Drive on Us" Sale

Nearly all Ford cars, trucks and SUVs – including hits such as the Ford F-150, Mustang V-6, Fusion and Escape Hybrid – will be offered with zero percent financing and customers will pay $0 for fuel through the end of the year as part of the brand’s “Drive on Us” 2006 model year-end sales event, which kicks off June 1 and runs through July 31.

Detroit strikes again. I guess they won't learn their lesson until someone goes out of business.

i wonder how long it took Ford to calculate how much the interest is, the price of average used gas for the 7months, and recalculate all that into a new improved 'price' of these vehicles, so that the zero interest free gas is exactly the same thing.

Hmm... $1000 of gas for a Ford, or $2600 tax credit for my TCH...what to do, what to do?

We recently rented a Ford Excursion for a business trip (not my idea.) The gutless, uncomfortable, poorly built behemoth got 11 MPG on the freeway. Our first fill-up cost $135.

At $3.50 a gallon and 11 MPG, a $1000 gas card will get you rolling a whopping 3142 miles.

Uhhh, that's $2600 Tax Credit for the FEH purchase and a $1000 gas card against your $2600 TCH credit.

Which is better, $3600 or $2600...Which is better?

That said, another foolish idea, monkey see, monkey do.

First it was "All Cars on Sale"

then "Low interest financing"

then "0% financing"

then "everyone gets employee pricing"

then "cash rebates"

then "free gas"

what's next ???

They're starting to run out of fools...

I'm sure the fools will come up with something even crazier in the future, like:

Buy our gas-guzzler, and will give you a $1000 card good for renting a hybrid!

There's NOTHING that's free. Ford either cut dealer commission by $1000 (most probable), jacked up hidden fees (also probable), or just plaoin raised the cost of the vehicles (a fine 3rd choice). But no matter which way you slice it, you can be sure they're not "giving" you anything.

And I also agree about buying a guzzler: 3,000 miles worth of gas is chump change against a 48-month finance loan.

At least you can *drive* a Ford 100k miles or more. With GM, you're lucky is the vehicle outlasts the loan!
