Default Goodbye to the Hybrid!

Hello all. I have enjoyed my 18 months here, but it is time to move on.

Sold the Camry this week with 27k on it. It was a good car, but with car deals what they are, it was time to move on to something else.

I believe there is not better hybrid for a mid-sized car, and wish you all much luck. I am sure I will miss it when the gas prices go back up, but the significant other gave me the green light to get my mid-life crisis car

So out goes the Camry and in comes the G37.

Can't wait to hear more as you guys start getting your 2010 TCHs.

If we can ask...how did the resale value hold up?

Well, mine had a ton of miles on it for an 09 (27k), but was in absolutely pristine condition. The dealer offered me $20k for it at first, then $21k, both of which I turned down. But I bought the car for right at invoice right when the came out about 18 months ago. So in the end I took it to Carmax and IMHO, they really stepped up to the plate and put $23k into it. Which was what I was looking for to sell it privately (23-24k) and what I would have had to have to sell it to a private party.

Given the new and used car market, I have to say I was very pleased.

It is hard to buy a new car for 2500 under invoice and complain about resale of the one you are trying to sell. In the end it is a trade off.

Funny, I sold my G35x for the Camry Hybrid. While the gas mileage sticker on the G35 said 25 highway, it never, ever achieved over 20MPG.

I too had a very good experience with CarMax when I got my 07 TCH. They gave me $7K for my 1999 camry with 73K miles on it. I was very happy with the whole experience. Their slogan is something like "car buying the way it should be" and they really lived up to it for me. I did not buy a car from them, but they treated me well when they bought mine.

First tank for the G in mixed driving was 22.5.

Totally different vehicles. However, my needs have changed and I have use of a car for work when I travel and decided to go for something sporty.

The TCH is one luxurious Toyota and I will miss it.
