Yep, that's it.

Sometimes it is in a contrasting color, like the lower cladding, and sometimes it is body colored, also like the lower cladding.

I spent the whole afternoon yesterday to install the mud guards. When installing the rear mud guards, I jacked up the car to remove the tire, but even when the jack was at maximum height, the tire didn't leave the ground like the manual says.

Do I have to deflate the tire to remove it?

Anyway, I was able to drill some holes at an angle and installed the mud guards.

Did you have the jack in the right place? I know when I did mine, the crude pictograph showing the proper location for the rear jack point wasn't all that clear.

Yes, I did. I know it is dangerous to put the jack at the wrong place. I saw the body being lifted, but the tire didn't leave the ground.

That is why it concerns me. With the IRS, you should be jacking up the wheel/tire, and not the body.

Thumbs up Re: MMH Mud Flaps (Splash Guards)

Thanks for the tip and part numbers on the splash guards Walt!

I bought mine a couple of weeks ago and they look like a perfect fit.

Now I just need to find the 1/2 day to install them.

Your profile says you have a Ford Explorer Hybrid. Typo? Or is the Ford Escape called the Ford Explorer in Canada? Confuzzled....

I got it. I was jacking the right arm but at the wrong spot. It should be the protuberance near the tire sidewall. It is lower than the more visible "joint" under the rear door.

The illustrations in the manual aren't that clear, and there is no text telling you what the parts are.

They do, but you need the rear ones which are not for fender flares (read the details on that webpage).

Of course, they will say "Ford" and not "Mercury" on them. That bothered me, and that's why I went with the Husky ones which have no name on them.
